Want to learn a cool sport on a real snow slope? At The Snow Centre, our snowboarding for beginners will get you geared up and raring to hit the slopes in no time!

Don’t worry, we all start somewhere when we learn to snowboard! If you’ve never snowboarded before, our qualified instructors are here to help you from the second you step onto the snow. At our snowboard lessons for beginners, you’ll learn about ‘toe edge’ and ‘heel edge’ techniques, as well as how to control your speed, link your turns and move safely in a diagonal line across a real snow slope.

Whether you’re looking to pick up the basics before your first snowboarding holiday or are looking for an exciting new hobby to keep you active, learning to snowboard has never been easier with the help of The Snow Centre.

Snowboarding for Beginners - Levels 1 to 4

When booking your snowboarding for beginners lessons it’s important to know what level you’re currently at to ensure you select the right lesson for your ability.

Level 1 - I've never snowboarded before

If you’ve never put a snowboard on before, you’re in safe hands! Our instructors will be with you every step of the way.

Our 2 Hour Lessons include a complimentary drink in The Lodge Bar & Kitchen afterwards while your instructor tells you what you've accomplished in your lesson. All levels run at similar times making it a perfect time to come along with friends, even if you are at different levels. 2 Hour Lessons are available midweek or weekend, daytime or evening. You'll be joined by other members of the public who are also at the same level and of the same ability.

Beginners Snowboarding Days start at Level 1 and will guide you through 5 hours of instruction (on and off the slope), giving you the perfect foundations to continue to develop your newfound skills.

Private Lessons are a great way to take snowboarding at your own pace. Whether that’s throwing yourself at it and progressing as quickly as possible, or taking things slowly and mastering each technique before moving on, your instructor will progress the Lesson at the pace you want to go.

If you are at The Snow Centre Level 1-4, all or part of your Private Lesson will take place on the Trainer Slope.

Level 2 - I can side slip on both heel and toe edge with assistance

If you’ve taken the first step with snowboarding before and are now able to side slip on both heel and toe edges, with a little help, then Level 2 is for you.

There’s so many ways to progress, take a look to see the best option for you.

Level 3 - I am in control on both heel and toe edge

You’re well on your way to learning to snowboard now! You’re controlling your board on your edges, next up – turning! Our instructors will help you to continue progressing and perfecting your skills ensuring you’re having fun every step of the way.

Level 4 - I can steer into and out of the fall line and make basic turns

You’re gaining more control and are able to steer your board confidently from the top of our Trainer Slope. Next stop – the Main Slope! Our instructors will aim to progress you to the top of our 160m Main Slope and teach you how to use the button lift.

Improvers Day (Developing Linking Turns).

Aimed at snowboarders who have completed our Beginner’s Day course and achieved Level 3 / or who can link basic turns on easy green slopes. This course starts on our Trainer Slope where the focus will be on further developing steering and controlled turns. Focus will be on developing confidence and progressive edging skills unlocking the ability to ride steeper terrain. Learners will be introduced to a typical surface ski lift (button lift) with a goal of following the instructor in a controlled descent down the Main Slope. The course will focus on developing independence and confidence as an early level snowboarder.

Includes 5 hours of instruction and coaching, both on and off the slope, along with refreshments and lunch, just £199pp

Lessons for those with additional needs

At The Snow Centre, we believe that snowsports should be open to everyone and recognise the importance of participation, building self-confidence, exploring new experiences and feeling a sense of achievement. If you have any additional needs that you feel may be a barrier to learning a snowsport, please contact us and speak to one of the team. We will be able to find the right pathway to help you unlock your learning and participation potential.

Our team consists of some of the best and most experienced snowsports instructors. We are also privileged to work with the top specialist organisations dealing with various additional needs while learning snowsports.

Have you got your snow essentials?

Snowboards, boots and helmets are included with your session and we recommend wearing warm, waterproof clothing. Thick socks and gloves are mandatory on the slopes. If you don't have your own we offer clothing hire - just £7 for one item or £12 for both a jacket and trousers. Gloves and socks are available to purchase for just £12 for gloves and £6 for socks.

Snow essentials can be added at the time of making your booking or at Reception when you arrive.

Group snowboarding for beginners lessons have a maximum of six adults per instructor, except Snowboard Days, which has a maximum of eight adults per instructor.
