Why book a private snowboard lesson?

There is no better way to learn how to snowboard than with a one on one private snowboard lesson. Having a sole instructor just for you means you will learn much faster and have a better understanding of the skills you are picking up. Our instructors are all highly qualified, and if you particularly like the teaching of your instructor, you can request them the next time you book a private lesson, and if they are available, we will do our best to accommodate.

Beginner Slope Private Snowboard Lesson

During your one hour private snowboard lesson, you will be taught the basics of snowboarding, including how to put the snowboard on, how to move with the snowboard, side slipping with both heel and toe edge, and by the end of the lesson, you should feel confident in moving without assistance.

Your beginner lessons are best done alone, but if you want to take part in a group, then we allow up to six participants. Make sure that you are all at the same level of competence before booking, as the instructor will tailor the beginner lesson to the least experienced amongst you.

Main Slope Private Snowboard Lesson

The Snow Centre main slope private lesson will build on what you learned in the beginner's lesson, so if you are new to snowboarding, then take that lesson first as this is a more advanced class. For those who have completed the beginners class and are ready for some more advanced techniques, or if you are an expert looking to brush up before the snow season, then we can cater for all levels of skill.

Our main slope lessons are all about improving your control. This will include helping you remain comfortable at higher speeds and mastering steering in and out of the fall line, as well as completing basic turns. By the end of the lesson, you should feel at a level where you can ski at Level 5 with no assistance.

Beginner Slope Private Snowboard Lesson - 3-5 year olds

At The Snow Centre, we treat our Kids beginner slope lessons a bit differently than the adults. If your child has never touched a snowboard before, our instructors will help them get up and moving while making it as fun and entertaining as possible. The first lesson is all about getting them used to wearing the snowboard and slipping on both the heel and toe edges.

When we let them start snowboarding, they are done so with the assistance of our helpful and friendly instructors, who will be very patient and allow the junior to dictate the pace.

Main Slope Private Snowboard Lesson - 3-5 year olds

Once your child is capable of using the trainer slope with no assistance, you should look to book a private snowboard lesson on the main slope. The instructor will take the lesson at whatever pace you wish and allow the junior to get used to the bigger slope and the faster speeds associated with it. Once they are able to steer in and out of the fall line and make basic turns, the lesson will focus on honing these skills so that the junior can have them down to a tee when developing further skills as they grow up snowboarding.

The word from the slopes

  • “Easy access from M1. Plenty of parking, simple registration, and quick service to collect skis, boots etc. Both lifts serving the main slopes worked faultlessly and although the session was quite busy I felt the slopes were quite free of other skiers & classes. I particularly liked the snow conditions and at the end enjoyed the amazing cafè overlooking the slopes. Reasonably priced menu. All told an excellent start to our skiing this year.”

  • “Very friendly staff. Good, clean facilities and very good prices on lessons & lift passes.”

  • “Very helpful staff would recommend to anyone trying to learn snow sports very down to earth people.”

  • “Great place, nothing negative to add. You can rent all of the equipment down to socks. Any kind of lessons available. Parking, gear store, cafe on site”

  • “Great lessons with experienced instructors who put kids and parents at their ease. The lessons were full as it was half term, but each child still didn’t have to wait too long between turns on the slope. It was easy to get and return equipment and the food in the restaurant was great and came promptly.”
