We separate kids into age groups and lesson lengths to suit their likely physical ability and attention span. 7-11-year-olds have a 60-minute lesson, and 11-16-year-olds receive 90 minutes. Whatever your child’s age or skill level, we have the ideal snowboard lesson at The Snow Centre Manchester.

Warm clothing is essential for your Snowboard lessons, especially in cold conditions. Wrapping up warm will allow you to enjoy your lesson fully. Wear warm, waterproof clothing and warm socks. All of which can be hired or purchased if you don’t have your own. The rest of your equipment, your snowboard, boots and helmet, all of which are compulsory, are included in your lesson fee. Gloves are compulsory and can be purchased either online when booking, or at the centre, or bring your own.
Aim to arrive 45 minutes to an hour before the start time of your lesson to allow ample time for preparation. Upon arrival, please have your booking reference available (you can find this on your booking confirmation email). You can collect your tickets from the Guest Services desk or the self-service ticket machines situated near reception. If your booking confirmation has a QR code, you can scan it at the self-service machines to check in.
Our facilities include changing cubicles, accessible changing facilities, and lockers available to store your belongings, which accept a £1 coin or a locker token. These are returnable.
Kids can start their snowboard lessons from as young as four years old on a specialised one-to-one private lesson. 7-year-olds to 16-year-olds can join our group lessons. These sessions focus on introducing basic skills to ensure they are comfortable on the snow and familiar with their equipment before progressing to turning, controlling speed, stopping, and developing both technique and confidence.
During junior lessons, a parent/guardian is required to remain on-site and be in sight of the lesson (where reasonably possible) at all times. This is in case the instructor needs to signal a parent/guardian to come down to attend to their child. Parents/guardians are not allowed to be on the snow with their child, but should be up in the Lodge viewing gallery or adjoining balcony.
Absolutely, there’s no better time to start learning to snowboard than when your little ones are young. Our expert instructors are capable of teaching your children all they need to know while ensuring they remain safe and have fun out on our slopes. Snowboarding makes the perfect hobby for building confidence and essential life skills that will benefit them throughout their life as they grow older.
All our instructors have undertaken a DBS check and completed a child protection module, as well as all the relevant instructor licence requirements.
If your child has any specific learning needs, please inform the instructor at the start of the lesson so they can make any necessary adjustments. For any significant needs your child may have, we recommend contacting Disability Snowsports UK initially, as they offer subsidised lessons to help your child get started before participating in The Snow Centre's group lessons ensuring they get the most out of their lessons.
