There's no better time to introduce your children to the exhilarating world of skiing than with our ski lessons for 7-11-year-olds. Led by our fully qualified instructors, they can enjoy action-packed activities catered to them that are sure to spark their love of skiing while ensuring they are kept safe. Our kids' ski lessons are taken at their own pace and can help them build confidence while having fun in the snow.
An introductory stage, where your child will learn all about their equipment and take their first steps into the world of skiing. Get comfortable standing and walking around on skis before learning to slide down the slope while in balance.
Building on the introductory stage, your child will begin to improve their basic skills, being able to get themselves into a snowplough shape and complete various activities whilst sliding down in balance.
This stage looks to lay beginner foundations by the end of the lesson, they should be able to ski slowly in a snowplough, ski down making the pizza shape (snowplough) bigger and smaller and change direction whilst in a snowplough.
The final stage in the beginner learning stages by the end of this lesson kids should be able to come to a stop using turns on the slope, ski in balance following their instructor using snowplough turns and following a set path utilsing linking turns be able to ski the entire length of the lesson slope.
This stage develops their skills whilst steering through the session they should be able to use the button lift with some assistance getting on and off, follow their instructor on a set path and stop at any point whilst descending.
By the time your child reaches Stage 5 they will be a competent skier. This stage seeks to build confidence and allow them to practice skiing independently down the Main Slope controlling their line and speed using linked turns, perform drills and exercises given by their instructor and have strong balance and sound posture whilst steering.
The final stage is all about continuous improvement teaching kids to ski in narrower corridors using effective steering, be comfortable with skiing at speed being in control, keeping their skis parallel and being experienced in varied snow, terrain and turn shapes.
Coaches will guide them, in multiple sessions, to develop on going performance including technique to varied terrain, refining posture or improving steering skills. They should be starting to experiment varying turn shapes, and enjoying the exhilaration of speed. Becoming a more accomplished, all round skier.

Aim to arrive 45 minutes to an hour before the start time of your lesson to allow ample time for preparation. Upon arrival, please have your booking reference available (you can find this on your booking confirmation email). You can collect your tickets from the Guest Services desk or the self-service ticket machines situated near reception. If your booking confirmation has a QR code, you can scan it at the self-service machines to check in.
Our facilities include changing cubicles, accessible changing facilities, and lockers available to store your belongings, which accept a £1 coin or a locker token. These are returnable.
You can enrol your child in kids’ ski lessons starting from the age of four, and we also offer private ski lessons for children as young as three. To reduce any potential disruption during lessons, please ensure your child has been to the toilet prior to the lesson.
During junior lessons, a parent/guardian is required to remain on-site and be in sight of the lesson (where reasonably possible) at all times. This is in case the instructor needs to signal a parent/guardian to come down to attend to their child. Parents/guardians are not allowed to be on the snow with their child, but should be up in the Lodge viewing gallery or adjoining balcony.
Children generally find it easier to learn to ski than adults. A lower centre of gravity provides them with greater balance on the slopes. However, the physical demands of skiing on real snow mean we offer shorter lesson formats focused as much on fun as on learning. This allows kids to learn at a rate that suits them both mentally and physically. It’s worth saying that everyone, kids and adults alike, learns at different rates - so our learning journey is not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Yes, children who meet our Main Slope minimum recreational standards can use the button lift at The Snow Centre Manchester and can enjoy the benefits of a lift pass. Our Main Slope minimum recreational standards are being able to control speed and direction, perform controlled linked turns, stop when required, and use the button lift unassisted.
Warm clothing is essential for your Ski lessons, especially in cold conditions. Wrapping up warm will allow you to enjoy your lesson fully. Wear warm, waterproof clothing and warm socks. All of which can be hired or purchased if you don’t have your own. The rest of your equipment, your Ski's , boots and helmet, all of which are compulsory, are included in your lesson fee. Gloves are compulsory and can be purchased either online when booking, or at the centre, or bring your own.
