We separate kids into age groups and lesson lengths to suit their likely physical ability and attention span. 7-11-year-olds have a 60-minute lesson, and 11-16-year-olds receive 90 minutes. Warm clothing is essential for your Ski lessons, especially in cold conditions. Wrapping up warm will allow you to enjoy your lesson fully. Wear warm, waterproof clothing and warm socks. All of which can be hired or purchased if you don’t have your own. The rest of your equipment, your Ski's , boots and helmet, all of which are compulsory, are included in your lesson fee. Gloves are compulsory and can be purchased either online when booking, or at the centre, or bring your own.
Aim to arrive 45 minutes to an hour before the start time of your lesson to allow ample time for preparation. Upon arrival, please have your booking reference available (you can find this on your booking confirmation email). You can collect your tickets from the Guest Services desk or the self-service ticket machines situated near reception. If your booking confirmation has a QR code, you can scan it at the self-service machines to check in.
Our facilities include changing cubicles, accessible changing facilities, and lockers available to store your belongings, which accept a £1 coin or a locker token. These are returnable.
Whilst the answer will always vary depending on natural ability and the age of the children participating, it will generally take around six lessons for your child to be able to ski confidently without an instructor assisting them.
During junior lessons, a parent/guardian is required to remain on-site and be in sight of the lesson (where reasonably possible) at all times. This is in case the instructor needs to signal a parent/guardian to come down to attend to their child. Parents/guardians are not allowed to be on the snow with their child, but should be up in the Lodge viewing gallery or adjoining balcony.
The youngest your child can start learning to ski at The Snow Centre is three years old. Our ski lessons start at four; however, you can book a private ski lesson with your three-year-old to give them their first taste of the exhilarating world of skiing!
Yes, private ski lessons are the perfect way to introduce your child to the world of skiing. Beginners will thrive in the personalised environment of a one-on-one private lesson with one of our talented instructors. Whilst group lessons are beneficial for learning as a group of children at similar levels, a private lesson offers unmatched personalisation to suit their needs.
If your child has any specific learning needs, please inform the instructor at the start of the lesson so they can make any necessary adjustments. For any significant needs your child may have, we recommend contacting Disability Snowsports UK initially, as they offer subsidised lessons to help your child get started before participating in The Snow Centre's group lessons ensuring they get the most out of their lessons.
