Led by our qualified instructors, participants can enjoy action-packed activities tailored to their needs, which are sure to spark their love of skiing while ensuring their safety. Our kids’ ski lessons are taken at their own pace and can help them build confidence while having fun in the snow.
An introductory stage, where your child will learn all about their equipment and take their first steps into the world of skiing. Get comfortable standing and walking around on skis before learning to slide down the slope while in balance.
Building on the introductory stage, your child will begin to improve their basic skills, being able to get themselves into a snowplough shape and complete various activities whilst sliding down in balance.
This stage looks to lay beginner foundations by the end of the lesson, they should be able to ski slowly in a snowplough, ski down making the pizza shape (snowplough) bigger and smaller and change direction whilst in a snowplough.
The final stage in the beginner learning stages by the end of this lesson kids should be able to come to a stop using turns on the slope, ski in balance following their instructor using snowplough turns and following a set path utilsing linking turns be able to ski the entire length of the lesson slope.
This stage develops their skills whilst steering through the session they should be able to use the button lift with some assistance getting on and off, follow their instructor on a set path and stop at any point whilst descending.
By the time your child reaches Stage 5 they will be a competent skier. This stage seeks to build confidence and allow them to practice skiing independently down the Main Slope controlling their line and speed using linked turns, perform drills and exercises given by their instructor and have strong balance and sound posture whilst steering.
The final stage is all about continuous improvement teaching kids to ski in narrower corridors using effective steering, be comfortable with skiing at speed being in control, keeping their skis parallel and being experienced in varied snow, terrain and turn shapes.
Coaches will guide them, in multiple sessions, to develop on going performance including technique to varied terrain, refining posture or improving steering skills. They should be starting to experiment varying turn shapes, and enjoying the exhilaration of speed. Becoming a more accomplished, all round skier.

At The Snow Centre, we recognise that learning a skilled activity takes time and commitment. As you move through the learning phases, the time spent at each stage will vary as you develop your skills. Part of your learning is practice, so a small part of your lesson will be recapping what you learnt in the previous stage. Our aim is to guide all our learners through the stages leading to success and ownership of their progress.

Aim to arrive at least 30 minutes before the start time of the lesson to allow ample time for preparation. Upon arrival, please have the booking reference available (you can find this on your booking confirmation email). You can collect your tickets from the Guest Services desk or the self-service ticket machines situated near reception. If your booking confirmation has a QR code, you can scan it at the self-service machines to check in.
Our facilities include changing cubicles, accessible changing facilities and free lockers to store your belongings.
Children generally find it easier to learn to ski than adults. A lower centre of gravity provides them with greater balance on the slopes. However, the physical demands of skiing on real snow mean we offer shorter lesson formats focused as much on fun as on learning. This allows kids to learn at a rate that suits them both mentally and physically.
It’s worth saying that everyone, kids and adults alike, learns at different rates - so our learning journey is not a one-size-fits-all approach. During junior lessons, a parent/guardian is required to remain on-site and be in sight of the lesson (where reasonably possible) at all times. This is in case the instructor needs to signal a parent/guardian to come down to attend to their child. Parents/guardians are not allowed to be on the snow with their child, but should be up in the Lodge viewing gallery or adjoining balcony.
All our instructors have undertaken a DBS check and completed a child protection module, as well as all the relevant instructor licence requirements.

Everyone learns at different rates. Between 7- and 11-year-old children can be quite physically different, with varying attention spans. To achieve our Main Slope minimum recreational standard, which includes being able to control speed and direction, perform controlled linked turns, stop when required, and use the button lift unassisted, we recommend successfully completing lesson Stage 5. Some children may be able to do this sequentially through the stages; others may need to stay in a particular stage until they are ready to move forward.
An 11-year-old will typically feel confident with the basics of skiing after six hours of instruction. The basics include learning to turn, changing direction, and fully understanding their equipment.

Warm clothing is essential for their kids ski lesson; it's real snow after all. A waterproof jacket and trousers will allow them to enjoy their ski lesson fully; these can be hired from us if needed. Gloves and warm socks can be purchased from us if they don’t have their own. The rest of their equipment is included in the lesson fee.
