In the intermediate phases of your skiing journey, you’ll discover some of the exciting techniques that will have you feeling the thrill of the Main Slope and ready to tackle that ski holiday. Our intermediate-level lessons include two learning phases. The Stage 4 lesson is about developing the skills you learnt as a beginner, and taking them onto the Main Slope throughout this phase. Stage 5 is about advancing and blending those skills together to build confidence, to meet Main Slope minimum standards and practise on your own with a lift pass.
Learn from our expert instructors, who are ideally suited to help you transition from the basics of skiing to new heights, taking your skills to the next level.
You will be building confidence on the lower section of Main Slope and get better acquainted with the button lift. You will start to ski confidently, blending snowplough and parallel ski positions for turns and adjust to varying terrain.
Once you have successfully completed a Stage 5 lesson, you will be able to practice independently on the Main Slope using a Lift Pass. Don’t worry, equipment is still included in the price of a pass. All Main Slope users need to meet our minimum slope standards for recreational use. You must be able to control your speed and direction, perform linked turns, stop when you need to and use the button lift unassisted.

Aim to arrive 30 - 45 minutes before the start time of your lesson to allow ample time for preparation. Upon arrival, please have your booking reference available (you can find this on your booking confirmation email). You can collect your tickets from the Guest Services desk or the self-service ticket machines situated near reception. If your booking confirmation has a QR code, you can scan it at the self-service machines to check in.
Our facilities include changing cubicles, accessible changing facilities, and free of charge lockers are available to store your belongings.
Absolutely. At The Snow Centre Hemel Hempstead, we aim to make skiing accessible, meaning even if you’ve never seen a ski before, we can help you find your ski legs and teach you all you need to know. There's no age limit on having fun in the snow.
For an adult to learn to ski confidently without instructors, it generally takes around six lessons.
Warm clothing is essential for your ski lesson; it's real snow after all. A waterproof jacket and trousers will allow you to enjoy your ski lesson fully; these can be hired from us if needed. Gloves and warm socks can be purchased from us if you don’t have your own. The rest of your equipment is included in your lesson fee.
