Bansko is the most popular ski resort in Bulgaria, sitting high up in the Pirin Mountains. This resort is renowned for its extensive skiing terrain, featuring 75km of pistes to explore. The resort is perfect for beginner skiers, with over 50% of the slopes being green or blue runs. As well as being great for families, there are some intermediate and expert runs for skiers on the hunt for a challenge. This ski resort lies in the beautiful Rila Mountains and offers 58km of pistes for skiers of all abilities to enjoy. Borovets

Bulgaria’s oldest ski resort, established in 1896, still offers incredible skiing opportunities, having been modernised with a lift system. This ski resort provides reliable snow conditions from December to April on slopes split across three linked sectors that cater to skiers of all levels, from beginners to those seeking a real challenge. This affordable ski resort offers some of the most challenging black runs in all of Bulgaria, along with calmer, gentle slopes for beginners or families. The Best Time to Ski in Bulgaria

The ski season in Bulgaria is similar to that in many European countries, spanning from December to the early spring months of March and April. December allows families to enjoy a Christmas ski holiday, but January and February are commonly regarded as the best months for skiing in Bulgaria, as they provide the best skiing conditions but are typically the busiest period of ski season. March and April are ideal for the slightly warmer weather and fewer crowds as you look to catch the last of the winter snow.

The Highest Ski Resort in Bulgaria

Both Bansko and Borovets share the title for the highest ski resort in Bulgaria, reaching an equal top elevation of 2,560 metres. Both of these resorts have a ski season that typically begins in mid-December and lasts until mid-April. Under the right conditions, Borovets can remain open for a couple of weeks longer until the end of April.
