Planning the perfect ski holiday
If you’re not sure how to organise a ski holiday, let’s start with the basics. That means deciding on budgets, locations and the experience of your travelling party. Are you going away with friends and family members of your age and skiing experience? Or are you heading away with the family, bringing young children along? All of these things matter when deciding on where you should go.
Here are some pointers to kick off your planning:

Choose the right ski resort
Of course, the first thing to think about when planning a ski holiday is the resort. Where are you planning on going and what type of resorts are there? Are you looking for beginner-friendly resorts or quieter ski resorts? Do you have a particular country in mind, be it ski resorts in France or Switzerland? These all play a part in your decision-making.
Part of choosing the right ski resort also involves the type of services they can offer you. Are you able to easily hire equipment while there or will you need to bring certain items with you? The chances are that the resort will supply you with what you need, but some may not.
Consider the skill level of your party
If you’ve found a couple of ski resorts that look enticing, then you should also consider the skill level of your group. You may be an experienced skier or somebody who fancies themself on a snowboard, but your friends might not. Will they need some assistance on the ski holiday, like beginner ski lessons, and is there a section of the resort for beginners to build up their confidence?
Also, if you’re taking children, check to see if the resort caters for them well enough in terms of kid-friendly slopes.
What’s your budget?
Depending on the resorts you’re looking at, you can tell which will be more expensive than others based on the price of a slope pass. Is the resort you’re looking at potentially going to cost more than £100 per day on a slope pass? You could probably find a better value ski resort that wouldn’t necessarily mean a drop-off in quality.
What can you do in the evenings?
Whether you’re taking children or not, planning for the evenings is essential. Once the slope is closed and the slope lift is off limits, you’ll no doubt want some entertaining things to do (unless you just want to thoroughly relax and unwind, of course!).
What are the restaurants like? Are there cosy-looking bars? What other types of entertainment are on offer that the kids may enjoy? These are just some things you must consider, because you won’t be hitting the slopes the entire time you’re there.
Accommodation
Finally, what is the accommodation like? Are the rooms large enough to accommodate quite a few people, and would they be great for a young family, or are they on the smaller side?
Think about who is travelling and what you require from your accommodation. Is the bathroom big enough to cater to your group, and will you need a hot bath to relax in after a day of skiing? Some rooms may only have showers!
